Apple Inc. innovated Bionic A13 processor that is surely Apple’s fastest iPhone chip yet, on the other hand, it’s tough competitor Qualcomm is ready with its Snapdragon 865 flagship beast which is the successor of Snapdragon 855.
Most of the Chinese phone manufacturers use Snapdragon processors for their devices, including OnePlus, Samsung, Xiaomi, Meizu and many others.
The current Snapdragon 855 is 5G-ready but requires additional modem like Qualcomm X50 5G modem to feature as part of a device’s infrastructure in order to support 5G connectivity. Whereas, The Snapdragon 865 is embedded with 5G connectivity.
The new Snapdragon 865 flagship processor will be released later in December this year, but we can actually experience it in smartphones after a few months later when the 2020 flagship season commences. Codenamed SM8250.
It will bring upgrades in departments such as performance, photography and network connectivity.
The two Snapdragon 865 variants are codenamed ‘Huracan’ and ‘Kona’ and also support UFS 3.0 storage standard which faster to read and write storage. It is also rumoured to support LPDDR5X RAM.
Literally, the 5G-enabled model is expected to be more expensive and will be used by smartphone manufacturers in suitable markets.
Samsung Galaxy S11 could be the first smartphone to be powered by the Snapdragon 865.
Along with these upgrades in connectivity, the Snapdragon 865 is undoubtedly to bring performance improvements, higher battery efficiency, and better image processing and multiple camera support at higher megapixel rates.
It is likely to power most 2020 flagships. More details about the same should surface in the coming months.
