Huawei’s Honor Vision TV comes with Harmony OS & globally launch on September 19

Recently Huawei released its operating system (OS) called Harmony OS and its OS is not coming with a mobile phone but it is launched with a smart TV called Honor Vision. It is globally launching on September 19.

It is said that the global launch event of Honor Vision smart TV will be in Munich, Germany. The pre-order will go on September 20 but the release date is not yet known.

All of this is managed not only by Harmony OS but also by the honor of the Xinhong 818 chipset. Honor and HiSilicon collaborate on the Hongjun 818, which is also responsible for the Huawei Kirin 980 chip inside the Huawei P30 Pro and Glory 20 Pro, but this is specifically designed for smart screens. It features a variety of image processing enhancements from HDR to automatic color management, as well as local dimming and noise reduction. Honor at the press conference that Hongjun 818 can also provide excellent 8K image processing regardless of screen size and type.

Honor Vision TV has two models 55-inch and 65-inch and both are from Hefei BOE Video Technology Co., Ltd, one of China’s leading LCD makers. Honor claims that its screen-to-body ratio is 94%, and the Vision’s back has an ambient lighting system. The TV consists of AI pop-up camera for video calling and has 16 GB onboard storage. It has a 178-degree viewing angle and also received the low blue light certification from TÜV Rheinland.

The Honor Vision and the Vision Pro TVs are equipped with 28nm Hongchu 818 chipset. It has 2GB RAM and up to 32GB of onboard storage. The chipset supports 4K playback at 60fps, H.265 1080p playback, HDR, noise reduction, 64MP image decoding, super-resolution scaling, MEMC, DCI, local dimming, and more. The TV has a built-in smart assistant called YOYO. It has a total of 6 10W speakers with a 1.6L cavity for bass reproduction. There’s Bluetooth 5.0 support, Wi-Fi, and 6 far-field microphones.

Honor Vision TV Price

The Honor Vision TV is priced at Rs.38,000 which includes 16 GB of storage and a pop-up camera. The Pro version is priced at Rs.48,000 this will have 32 GB of storage and a pop-up camera.

The launch of the smart TV, which is expected to ship globally, is a superb opportunity for the Chinese tech giant to showcase the capabilities of Harmony OS. This has become even more imperative considering that the company is positioning the OS as an alternative to Android OS on the Huawei P40 next year if it remains on the US government blacklist and unable to access Google’s Android service. The self-developed OS is also expected to find its way to Huawei smartwatches and laptops in the near future.
